Premiere: March 2007 DocAviv International Documentary Festival

WATCH TRAILER

A cinematic poem made of 7 parallel stories of children on their way to school and back home. Alone, between the parent and the teacher, danger and curiosity, dependence and independence, it is a passage of rite that carves deep into our adulthood. SIDE WALK is a meditation on the playful, the stressful, the violent, the magical, the thrilling daily journey of childhood.

Filming children during their walk to school, I realized that their presence is free of the genre’s restrictions – they are not motivated by external dictations such as time and purpose but rather move in a physical realm that is known to them and which is used as a space, for playing, starring and surviving, where they express their inner-world, their anxieties and feelings in the most profound way.
